What is the
citizens fire academy?

The Irving Fire Department Citizens Fire Academy, established in 2002, is a great opportunity for the citizens or businesses of Irving to learn more about their fire department.

The CFA is not an accredited fire academy. This class is for information only and will not result in any certifications in firefighting, nor secure opportunity for employment.

The program is seven weeks long; seven Tuesday evening classes, plus two Saturday classes. This program gives Fire Department personnel the chance to welcome residents into the Fire Department family and introduce them to the different ways the department serves the community.

WHEN

The Academy is offered once a year and meets one evening per week from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. on Tuesdays and 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturdays. The academy is 7 weeks long.

We are accepting applications for our Spring 2024 class which will start in March.

Where

The Academy meets at the Irving/Grand Prairie Training Facility at 4850 N Beltline Rd and Fire Administration at 845 W Irving Blvd.

Minimum Requirements

Participants must be at least 18 years old and live or work in the City of Irving.

Application to the Citizens Fire Academy DOES NOT guarantee acceptance.
The CFA DOES NOT lead to employment with the Irving Fire Department.
